" It is alright to decorate construction, but never construct decoration. " - Pugin
Founded in 2001 by Sef Pinney, as an outlet for 3D, graphic and fiber-based creative endeavors. Elucidesign setup their studio and shop for furniture and product design in Williamsburg in 2005 through a working partnership with Mike Angio in their 1000 s.f., first floor roll-up at Graham and Humboldt.
We design and build for individuals, interior designers, architects in the metro area, and develop our studio prototypes through research. We embrace usability, sustainability and aesthetic uniqueness in all areas of design, and work passionately to develop innovative and beautiful pieces by focusing on functionality, ergonomics and materials and allowing the forms to evolve and precipitate from these guidelines.
True sustainablity in consideration of the products entire life cycle is our highest goal. We use materials with low embodied energy, and metals and ceramics only where functionally necessary, not ‘where it looks good.’ We use water-based and non-toxic finishes, FSC or domestic woods from well managed forests. These guidelines do not however, overshadow our passion to design beautiful pieces with durability that will travel with you for a lifetime. In addition, we are pursuing rental and service based pricing structures, to like-minded customers, and limited lifetime warranties and exchange programs.

Mike Angio Mike Angio grew up in Chicago, New Mexico, and Georgia, he studied anthropology at the University of Wyoming and called Athens, GA home before moving to New York. His design perspectives are still shaped by his experiences of the design and architecture of his travels to over 18 countries in Europe and South America. His growing dissatisfaction with the wastes of fabrication for the fashion industry and a need for a more creative environment, happily coincided with the shop partnership with Elucidesign in 2006.
